How you season your new humidor.
It is not right to just put your cigars in your new humidor or a humidor that has not been in use for a long time without first seasoning it. The cedar in your humidor could not have been seasoned by the manufacturer thus rob moist from your cigars making them dry.
The seasoning starts with wiping the inside cedar wood surfaces of the humidor with a cloth or sponge dampened with distilled water with no scents around. Then put the wet sponge or cloth on a cellophane or plastic paper and leave it in the humidifier. The wet material should not come into contact with the wipe surfaces.
The next step is to install you humidification device in the humidor. Most hygrometers in the humidors use either distilled water or the humidifying solution with is filled in it. Make sure the amount is right and drip off the excess amount but remember to wipe it off immediately. Having done that, close the humidor for twenty four hours and repeat the same process again the next day. After this close it for another day and it is ready to be used.
If on the day after the second treatment you can still feel some dampness in the humidor; give another to dry before you can store your cigars. In the time of treatment ignore the high reading on the hygrometer but if the reading go below seventy two percent repeat the process a third time after you check the functioning; the humidor cigar accessories sometimes need adjusting.
